Hair Removal Treatments: How to choose which method is right for you. . .

Hair removal is a personal choice – your circumstances will be unique to you and you may even have limitations to the method you can use.  This guide will help you choose the hair removal treatment that suits you best.

No matter where you wish to remove hair from, there is a hair removal treatment option for you:

Recommended Product
For a permanent reduction in hair consider convenient and cost effective at home products like the Verseo E-Pen and E-Pad, Silk’n, Lumasmooth or the Rio Laser.

Shaving and waxing are very popular but remember that it's important to moisturise before and after.  Even more importantly when shaving, always use a new blade.  Waxing and epilating may cause discomfort to some people but the effects are longer lasting.  If you have light skin and dark hair then electrolysis, intense pulsed light (IPL) or laser methods are the best option for achieving a permanent reduction in hair.

Legs

For a permanent reduction in hair consider convenient and cost effective at home products like the Silk’n, Lumasmooth, Rio Laser or no!no!

The most popular method of hair removal on the legs is shaving and waxing.  Epilators can also give you that silky smooth feeling – if you don't mind self-inflicted pain!

On the other hand if long-lasting hair reduction is what you want – and who doesn’t – then by far your best options are intense pulsed light (IPL) or laser hair removal treatments.  But for those of you with dark skin, heat based technology is your best option for long-lasting hair removal.

Arm Hair

For a permanent reduction in hair consider convenient and cost effective at home products like the Silk’n, Lumasmooth, Rio Laser or no!no!

Epilating and waxing are the best short term hair removal methods for your arms.  But make sure to exfoliate and moisturize to avoid ingrown hairs.  Shaving is not recommended as the hair can feel coarse and bristly as it grows out.
If you have light skin and dark hair, intense pulsed light (IPL) and laser treatments are great long term options.  However, if you have darker skin then you should try heat based technology for the best long term results.

Facial hair

For a permanent reduction in facial hair consider convenient and cost effective products like the Verseo E-Pen and E-Pad or the Rio Laser.

Electrolysis or laser technology – which can be helpful for heavier amounts of dark hair – is brilliant for removing unwanted facial hair for good!  Epilators with a facial cap are also very effective.

Back and chest hair

For back and chest hair, waxing or body trimmers are the most common option.  However, if you have light skin and dark hair and are seeking long-term results intense pulsed light (IPL), laser, or heat base hair removal methods are an excellent choice.  Although hair on men, especially on the chest, will require more treatments than those of women to get the desired results.  Electrolysis is also an option if you have sparse hair but this method can be time-consuming for large areas.

Chest and Abdomen: for those few stray hairs!

Plucking or shaving is an option, or maybe waxing for a longer temporary result.  Otherwise if you want them gone for good, try electrolysis.  Or if you're light-skinned with dark hair, then why not try intense pulsed light (IPL) or laser methods?

Type of Hair

  • Red, Gray and blonde hair:

Intense pulsed light (IPL) and laser probably won't be very effective on these types.  Since gray hairs are often more coarse, they are generally harder to remove.  We recommend no!no! and traditional methods such as shaving, waxing or epilation for this hair type.

  • Dark hairs:

In addition to all other forms of hair removal, providing you have light skin dark hairs are ideal for laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) methods.
